Bloom's Taxonomy is an essential framework in teaching and learning. Using this framework within and to guide your pedagogy ensures that students are using both lower order and higher order thinking/doing skills. In particular, students using their higher order thinking skills unlocks their full potential and creativity. I am not the only student commenting on Bloom's Taxonomy. Miss Kyra makes reference to it and links to Kathy Schrock's Bloomin Apps Guide.
I have been reading Bloom's Digital Taxonomy by Andrew Churches which can be found by clicking here. Although I have not finished reading yet due to my very busy Mum and uni schedule, what I have read so far is very relevant and interesting to my future teaching career. The reading opens up ideas about bringing Bloom's Taxonomy into the 21st Century.
However, the reading is more than just linking tools into the categories of Bloom's Taxonomy. As Churches states, "This taxonomy is not about the tools and technologies, these are just the medium, instead it is about using these tools to achieve, recall, understanding, application, analysis, evaluation and creativity (p. 3).
