This week in my EDC3100 course, we were led to the website Draw a Stickman to complete an Episode where I drew a Stickman which was then animated and then I proceeded to "save" him by drawing in useful objects suggested by the program. It was rather entertaining, especially at the end when I could purchase a t-shirt that had my actual Stickman on it.
So after competing the activity I wondered why we were led there. Other students; Rachel and Tahnewright have posted that this could be used in the classroom providing examples in art and english. At first I was a bit hesitant, but after further thought I agree that Stickman could be used to stimulate creativity and open up the possibilities available to students when creating stories or ideas. I found it interesting to look through the gallery and see that Stickman can look like many things... even a monster!
Upon a further Google search, I discovered that Stick Man is also a book by Julia Donaldson with a ready reserve of ideas that can be used in the classroom by Mark Warner in Teaching Ideas, my favourite being "make an animated version of the story" . Which I am sure that students will have a lot of fun and success using the Draw a Stickman site or App.
