Assessment two required me to write a unit plan that incorporated ICT as a general capability to support student learning. As part of the plan, the students learning experiences were to be outlined in terms of what the students would be doing and what the teachers would be doing. Overall, I found the layout and backwards design framework very useful and structured to facilitate quick reference and ease of use; not that I have opportunity to use this unit plan in a real context unfortunately. Information about the backwards design template can be read from this document from the Tasmanian Department of Education. A brief summary has been written by fellow EDC3100 student, Miss Hinton on her blog.
After completing and submitting my assessment, I found some very useful websites that would have aided me in completing the section on what the teacher is expected to do. Pity I did not find them earlier! The websites are databases of instructional strategies.
This website called Teachers Instructional Practices Online Database gives instructional strategies in the areas of behaviour management, reading, writing and maths.
This website called Instructional Strategies Online gives instructional strategies that can be used across multiple subjects.
