Reflection on Learning

As we enter into Week 8 on Semester 1, I thought it might be appropriate to reflect back on my learning progress.

I am still feeling pretty overwhelmed at the work load, especially for EDC3100 (my ICT subject). In fact, I am still completing the activities for Week 5 (Week 6 and 7 were holidays) and I need to catch up on my blogs to fulfill the requirements for Assessment 2. This lack of success is not through lack of effort, but rather through being sick, lack of time and my scattered brain thinking that an assessment for another subject was due in April, when in fact it is not due until May! So here I was, busily prioritising that assessment as number 1 during my holidays, when really my ICT one is due first. On the bright side, I have finished that assessment early and can now concentrate on this subjects' assessment and the other 2 I have looming in the not too distant future!

On a positive note, I feel like I have learnt a lot over the past few weeks. I am becoming more efficient at finding resources, materials and researching on the net. I have found that you can use the uni library's beta-search to help write APA referencing... a definate time saving benefit when writing assignments. I am beginning to understand the use of frameworks and their benefits when planning units and lessons. In my travels over the internet, I am hoping to discover a site that has different models explained in an easy to understand format, with examples to help consolidate my knowledge and to help make comparisons. In my science assessment, I really put Diigo to use, especially the highlighting and sticky note features. Another thing I learnt was to install another browser so that I no longer have clashes between my Google accounts. So now I just flick between the two, depending on which I want to access.

I remember reading a little while back that Google Reader is shutting down? Over the next week or two, I will be investigating this further as I would like to figure out how to transfer my lists over and continue using a feed reader. I believe that a reader is a very valuable tool in developing and maintaining my PLN. In fact, as I read through some of my fellow students' blog posts, I come across Miss Kyra, who seems to be having struggles very similar to mine! I particularly like her idea to "Breathe, Breathe, Breathe".

So finally, a website that we were directed to in our studies that contains Activity Types with ideas for using ICTs for various subject areas. Something to help us get our TPACK up and running.
