My dilema as I work on assessment two is ensuring that the ICTs used to support and enhance activities for my unit plan are suitable for the age and level of students. My ideas tend to lean towards older students, however my context involves Year 4 students. I would still like to use similar ideas, but cater them for the younger students.
Ideas include using the interactive whiteboard and doing the activity as a whole class to scaffold the students before letting them complete the activity as a group work project. Also, finding equivalent programs that are more visual or simple might be effective too.
At the moment, I am trying to find a program that young students can use to map a voyage of an 18th century explorer. I am not sure if Google Maps can give a whole world view of what i have in mind. More experimenting to do...
After reading through my Feedly list of fellow student blogs, I came across Maria Raggett's Blog. Her post discusses her Year 7 Maths unit plan and what ICTs she has used to support and enhance the students learning.
